Healthier Home

Today, we did a mold remediation/home disinfection on a home based on the the results from an Indoor Air Quality/Mold Inspection we performed a few weeks ago. The home is a 1 ½ story, 2,000 sq/ft on a slab. The lab results from the spore traps (3rd party tested at EMSL Analytical) showed a very low level of Chaetomium in an upstairs bathroom. During the inspection we found traces of a small elevation of moisture under the floor covering around the toilet. Based on this, we recommended taking the floor out in the bathroom. The customers decided to pull all the flooring out prior to us coming. It’s a good thing they did because the subfloor around the toilet had a black ring of mold around the drain about 12-14” all the way around. The inspection also revealed an elevated level of Carbon Dioxide, so we recommended an air exchanger. We set up containment in the bathroom and treated the mold, installed the air exchanger and performed a full home disinfection which includes cleaning the HVAC duct system, administering a large quantity of ozone (ran through the HVAC system), running air scrubbers in each room while working, HEPA vacuuming all porous surfaces and wet-wiping all non-porous surfaces and treating with Oceanic, our plan-based, enzymatic disinfectant. After completion, we treated the home with environmental probiotics to replenish home’s biome, and let the air scrubbers run long enough to get a full 12 air exchanges throughout the home. This was a pretty straightforward job, so I expect the customers to be extremely pleased.
